Universal compact cord for fast charging of electric vehicles
AeroVironment (California, USA) offers electric vehicle users an advanced cable to connect their vehicles to recharging stations.
A key factor for the rapid adoption of electric vehicles is the availability of existing refueling infrastructure. It is enough to find the nearest available outlet, connect, charge, and you can continue the way. In reality, many electric vehicle owners have been forced to spend thousands of dollars installing specialized charging stations at home. Some craftsmen in artisanal conditions converted the standard 110V cable (Level 1), which comes with an electric car, to work in the 220V network, if such an outlet was used. The concept of TurboCord is based on the same principle of compatibility with different network standards, only it is safe and certified for sale, and according to the seller – charges three times faster than a Level 1 cable. At a cost of $599, TurboCord competes with stationary charging points (Level 2 EVSE), with no installation fees. When choosing a TurboCord Dual kit for an additional $50, a 110V adapter will be provided. The advantage is faster charging speed at any point.
It may not be better than the standard fast-charging cords on Ford Focus Electric or Nissan Leaf SV or SL electric vehicles, but compared to Level 2 EVSE stations, its advantages are obvious.
The cable length is 6m, with a charging speed of 20A. It is fully waterproof and can be used even in the rain. In addition, the TurboCord is distinguished by the strength of the body, it can even be run over by a car without any consequences for performance.
