Solar energy is an excellent alternative source

There are several directions of conversion and application of solar energy – solar radiation is converted into thermal or electrical energy. In the first embodiment, energy is used for heating buildings, for hot water supply, air conditioning, drying a variety of materials and so on.

Solar energy resources in many regions of the world are acceptable and stable due to climate-friendly conditions. The average number of hours of sunshine is 2200-3000 hours throughout the year, and the energy of radiation from the sun is 1300-1800 kW per meter per year. The most favorable regions for the placement of such solar power plants are those regions in which there is a shortage of electricity.

Quite a large cost and a very long payback are the main disadvantages of such solar installations. The average price of a solar installation at the moment is five thousand US dollars for one kW of generated energy, and it can pay for itself only after twelve to fifteen years.

In addition, solar installations do not have too high efficiency, which inventors and specialists are trying to increase, photopanels are periodically required to be cleaned of dirt and dust, and due to reducing the efficiency of photocells during heating, it is necessary to install an additional cooling system.

According to the most optimistic forecasts, around 2030, the use of renewable sources will increase by ten percent. However, in addition to the long-term transition of the economy to natural renewable energy sources, even very large cash investments will be required.
