Hacker threatens to reveal the secrets of the Creator of Bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto
Someone hacked emails belonging to the Creator of cryptocurrency Bitcoin (bitcoin, BTC, Satoshi Nakamoto, whom nobody has ever seen, and is ready to sell Nakamoto's secrets for money. According to Wired, a hacker named Jeffrey argues that the information obtained can also be used to expose the identity of the Creator of Bitcoin.
Jeffrey told not so much, but when asked how he managed to take control of the address satoshin@gmx.com that Nakamoto had used for correspondence, he replied: "the fool used a primary gmx under his full name and kept him under their aliases. He's still alive."
In a post on Pastebin, Jeffrey said he will reveal the secrets of Satoshi if someone pays 25 bitcoins — about $ 12,000. He also said that he has a mail since 2011. The programmer or group of programmers under the name Satoshi Nakamoto released a software open-source running bitcoin, back in 2009. Since then, bitcoin has grown to a global phenomenon, and people are trying to expose its Creator. However, the true identity of Nakamoto is still a mystery.
Jeffrey said, as he got access to Nakamoto's account, and did not answer many questions. Looks like he used the address on gmx.com to get access to other accounts Nakamoto. One of them left a message Monday on the website of the P2P Foundation. Others ruined the old page developers bitcoin on Sourceforge.
The message of the P2P Foundation Jeffrey reported that information about Nakamoto was already sold on the Network.
"Apparently, you have not configured your Tor properly and your IP leaked from texting in 2010. You're not safe. You need to go from where you are now, as quickly as possible, before you hurt".
However, Jeffrey did not provide any evidence to support their claims. And it is unclear what information he has about the Creator of bitcoin.
Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared from view back in 2010, so it's possible that in a few years provider GMX.com just let someone create a new address satoshin@gmail.com. The provider from the UK and not answering questions.
More intriguing appears the probability that the account is hacked. If that's true, Jeffrey could access the treasure trove of private letters Satoshi. And this information can help to expose the true nature of Nakamoto.
Michael Marquardt, head of the administration of the forum Bitcointalk.org says that Jeffrey sent him an excerpt from a letter that he sent Nakamoto in March this year. "So either the email account compromised back in March, or the attacker gained access to old emails that compromised the account themselves."
"I'm pretty sure that's just a Troll in search of lulz," says Marquardt.
