Swiss company launches a clothing line of fully biodegradable textiles

Of course, clothing made from natural materials such as cotton or wool, can be considered biodegradable, however, subject to certain environmental conditions. But recently, a well-known manufacturer Freitag in Zurich, Switzerland, announced the start of production of clothes of a fabric, which is specially designed for quick and easy composting after use.

A new material called Fabric made of a blend of flexible hemp fibres and modified viscose fibers, woven from cellulose, which is obtained from waste wood of beech. In addition, the fabric is made using special weaving techniques to ensure rapid decomposition of the fibers in contact with them in the compost mass.

According to the company Freitag, clothes from the new line decomposes completely within about three months after putting it in the compost. Not undergo decomposition only buttons, buttons, rivets, hooks and other fasteners and embellishments that are pre-composting should be cut with the clothes. These products can be reused.

It is worth noting that the biodegradable material Fabric was originally developed for the manufacture of one type of workwear for employees of the company Freitag. Currently, the range of clothes consists of men's trousers, men's and women's shirts and women's aprons. As expected, these products will appear in stores in European countries by the end of October this year. While the company has not approved prices for the products, but probably do not expect that this biodegradable clothing will be cheap.
