Scientists have created a plastic that decomposes under the action of ultraviolet light
A huge amount of plastic waste is one of the most serious problems of modern ecology. Although scientists applied a lot of effort to find solutions to this problem, the results of their work still can't please the environmentalists all over the world.
However, a group of scientists from the United States suggested a very interesting method that can partially solve the problem of plastic waste. As the resource zmescience, the researchers were able to develop a special kind of plastic which can samorazvitie under the action of ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 350 nanometers.
For the manufacture of the material, the researchers used fructose-like and light-sensitive molecules. Thus under the influence of ultraviolet rays, the molecules absorb them and contribute to the degradation of the material.
According to scientists, for three hours plastic can completely become liquid, the liquid not only does not harm the environment, but also can be used for reproduction of the source material.
Of course, for obvious reasons, a new type of plastic cannot be used when some of the household items, but it can be applied in areas where plastic products are not exposed to UV light. published
