Solar panels will replace the spray

In the future solar panels can be applied to the roof with the spray. American scientists have found a new way to cover the solar cells to almost any surface using tiny light-sensitive materials.

Engineers at the University of Toronto invented a new way to spray solar cells on flexible surfaces. As material they used colloidal quantum dots (CQD) – semiconductor nanocrystals.

According to Daily Mail, the light-sensitive elements on a flexible substrate can be coated a variety of products from laptops to aircraft. So, this material covered the roof of the car is able to provide enough energy to power three 100-watt light bulbs or 24 compact fluorescent bulbs. It is reported that the commercialization of development may lead to a collapse in prices for solar panels.

SprayLD method based on the manufacturing process of ALD, which involves the application of sequential layers one atom thick.
It is noted that all previous methods were less effective and more costly.

SprayLD method allows you to apply CQD directly onto flexible surfaces like film or plastic, similar to how publishers print Newspapers using ink and paper. The ability of roller application of the material simplifies the production of solar panels.

The study, published in the journals Advanced Materials and Applied Physics Letters, showed that the system sprayLD maintains high efficiency and "solar" paint can be applied to the surface with the spray.
