Japan to build solar power plants along highways

Japan wants to build solar power plants along the roads and on the slopes of the overpasses. Thus, the authorities plan to not only an economical use of space, but also improve the efficiency of solar panels.

We already have our first success: 2000 solar cookers, established by the company Moriguchi Landscape on the slope of one of the sections of the Expressway Chugoku in the Central part of Japan, produced about 500 kilowatts (kW). This power is enough to power 200 homes.

According to experts, the effectiveness of the work installed on the bridges of solar power plants increased due to the large amount of sunlight that falls on solar cells due to the inclination.

In the absence of clear prospects for launching nuclear reactors Japan is actively building a power plant on solar energy. Panel performance is increased due to reflection of sunlight from water, usually set on the coast and surface water. This time, however, the official Tokyo decided to use a large number of road junctions, a space which until now had no practical application.

Recall that the accident at the NPP "Fukushima-1" that occurred in March 2011 led to a halt of all 48 available in Japan's commercial nuclear reactors and forced the country to actively increase the power stations on renewable energy sources.published
