China launches its first environmentally friendly rocket into space

The Long March 6 rocket was launched on Sunday September 20 from a spaceport in northern China's Shanxi province. The goal of the launch was to put into orbit 20 Chinese micro-satellites. And all would be nothing, like a fairly ordinary launch, but as a fuel Long March 6 uses a mixture of liquid oxygen and kerosene. Of course, Greenpeace is unlikely to call the Chinese missile a “friend of nature”, but this approach is indeed much safer than previous toxic fuels.

China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation said it was the first such launch in the country. The fuel is devoid of any toxic elements and is not capable of causing serious damage to wildlife.

Long March 6 - a small-class launch vehicle. Most rockets of this series are used only to put into orbit small loads, such as micro-satellites. With such launches, China could become more competitive in commercial satellite launches.

Following Long March 6, a test launch of a heavier Long March 5 rocket is planned, which Chinese scientists plan to use to fly to the moon as part of the Chang’e-5 project scheduled for 2017. And remember, just changing our consumption – together we change the world!
