Nissan LEAF taught to visualize the experience of the driver
On the fifth anniversary of the launch of the Leaf electric car, Nissan has published a video showing a special version of the car that can project the thoughts and experiences of a person sitting behind the wheel on the asphalt. The emotions of young drivers driving an electric vehicle for the first time are displayed in real time on the way as cartoon images.
The project is called “THE ELECTRIC CARTOON!” and aims to convey the driver’s experience to those outside the car. The catchy visuals produced by the transformation of emotions allow people to “see” what the electric car drivers feel.
For this purpose, 33 visual images were used to express the different moods and reactions of the driver. Brain waves and projected animations are automatically matched and created by comic book-style visualizations with "bubbles" of speech and thinking. The exterior of the car also has a unique design, made in the spirit of Japanese anime cartoons, the popularity of which has already spread far beyond the borders of this country.
In this project, the brainwaves of 30 men and women were measured while driving a Nissan LEAF in a variety of situations. It is known from neuroscience that alpha waves are emitted when the brain relaxes and concentrates, while beta waves occur when the brain is excited or excited.
As a result, about half of those who participated emitted beta waves at the start of the electric car and more than 90 percent produced significant amounts of alpha waves during the maneuvers. In the experiment, Nissan showed that those who drive an electric car most of the time are in a “comfortable state” or “excited state”. published
