German Siemens and Spanish Gamesa will combine your wind turbine business
Spanish energy company Gamesa, specializing in wind generation, will be absorbed by the German giant Siemens, created a new merged company, one of the world's largest manufacturers of wind turbines, which will have its global headquarters in Spain.
Of the company on 17 June signed a binding agreement to merge and formation of a new company. Siemens will be finished, a 59% stake in the new merged company, while existing shareholders of Gamesa will receive 41%. It is expected that the transaction will be closed in the first quarter of 2017.
The new company will start its work with the installed base of wind generation 69 GW worldwide and a portfolio of orders will amount to € 20 billion, the projected revenue for the first year of existence — € 9.3 billion.
Currently, wind generation in Europe shares the third place with hydro generation with a share of 15.6% of the total installed capacity of all power plants.
Meanwhile, the competition on the world market of wind generation increases. The Chinese company Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co. became in 2015 the market leader for wind generation by installing a 7.8 GW of new wind capacity, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance, overtaking the American GE, the leader of 2014, which fell to third place with 5.9 GW.
