Science can not accurately determine the age of a person without documents
This is a problem constantly faced by the developed countries: the higher the standard of living in the country, the more people want to live in it. Refugees from poorer countries often try to deceive the immigration service, giving young people for children under the age of majority and undocumented, to increase the likelihood of obtaining a residence permit. Governments have turned to science: Is there a sure way to determine the age of a person without documents?
The answer is no. All used methods today are outdated and provide greater accuracy. For example, the determination of the age of the teeth is used by the US immigration from 1993 year. But dentists have long known that pinpoint the teeth, in particular, by the presence of wisdom teeth, the age is impossible: many wisdom teeth grow even in adolescence.
In the UK, a popular method of determining the bones of the wrist: initially they are separated by cartilage, which grows together as they grow older. But given that this test was developed back in 1959, and mankind has a tendency to acceleration, many of the cartilage grows to 15 years already. The error can be up to 1/3 of the actual age!
«To determine the age of the person, require the passage of a special committee, which must include psychologists and pediatricians em> - tells Al Aynsley-Green, a professor emeritus of pediatrics - do not have a universal test, after passing which we can say: this man so many years. We must understand that the development and maturation of man - this is a very individual process ». Em>
