Stress reduces the attractiveness of women

A recent study has shown that men find women with high levels of the stress hormone less attractive.

Before that, it was also found that women, in turn, do not pay attention to the weak, sickly men. "It's all about fertility, - says the Finnish professor of biology at the University of Turku Markus Rantala - Men and women as biological entities seeking partners to reproduce healthy offspring, so they are more attracted to healthy harmonious" special "».

The concept of beauty, as you know, is subjective and depends on the personal, social, cultural and many other factors. Rantala and his colleagues asked 52 women to be photographed during the menstrual cycle, with study participants one month before and after pictures donated blood to measure levels of hormones in their bodies. Thereafter, the resulting images were evaluated 18 men on a scale of 0 to 11. The result was that the title of the most charming and attractive representatives of the strong half of mankind gave the girls with the lowest levels of cortisol - a stress hormone - in the blood.

Thus, revealed differences in reproductive strategies between the sexes: for the woman who carries and delivers a child is much more important to meet a man with a strong immune system - a "guarantee" healthy offspring. Men do not take the quality and quantity, trying to pass their genetic information to the greatest number of partners. That is why men react to changes in the appearance of the girls caused by stress.

According to the researchers, their scientific researches them even a little disappointed: it was believed that men and women are looking for more healthy mates, but it turned out that the strong half of humanity attracts a more sedate ladies.
