In Poland, the group found the burial of vampires

Construction work near the Polish city of Gliwice was interrupted by an unexpected discovery: the builders stumbled upon the burial of a group of people whose heads were separated, and found immediately, at the feet of the bodies.

Actually, the human remains are not such a rare find, but usually, archaeologists expect to see the body of soldiers of World War II, and these graves were apparently dug before, especially as the ritual cutting off the head is often carried out to prevent the dead vampire "come alive." According to medieval superstitions, it is cut off the corpse's head prevented restless spirit to terrorize the living world: the spread cruel "tradition" has received in the early years of Christianity, when the pagan influence more were particularly strong.

There are other ways to protect against vampires: Italian anthropologist Matteo Borrini, for example, tells of a woman who is buried with a brick in her mouth - had hoped to wean the vampire feed on blood of the living. Victim of a "witch hunt", died during an epidemic of plague in Venice XVI-th century and is one of the most ancient among the world famous "vampire graves." Trouble-free method is considered as the vampire's body pierce metal or wooden stake, "crucified" him in such a way to the ground.

These executions occurred primarily when the authorities could not explain the reasons for any phenomena like drought or frost, and needed the "evil witches" who could blame all the troubles and sacrifice.

In recent years, more and more medicine explains the phenomena which evoked medieval townsfolk just fear, such as decomposition processes may cause blood flow to the mouth, which creates the impression that the corpse "drank the blood." Sometimes it happens that the conditions of burial coincided so that the body a long time did not give in to rot, and among the laity disagreed rumors "incorruptibility" of the deceased.

Archaeologists have expressed different assumptions regarding the date of the Polish disposal - makes it difficult to analyze the absence of any jewelry, coins, and even buttons on clothing.
