One hemisphere of the brain can be developed more than others

Recently, there is a perception that the pronounced development of any of the hemispheres of the brain determines the type of personality. However, according to recent research neurologists, while carrying out various tasks the brain often use the one and the other hemisphere, so the theory is that the dominance of any part of the brain contributes to the severity of mathematical and creative abilities, it does not have sufficient grounds.

Scientists from the University of Utah for two years studied lateralization (distribution) functions and mental processes between the right and left hemispheres. The experiment involved 1011 volunteers from 7 to 29 years old.

According to information received, the left hemisphere is responsible for logical thinking, precise mathematical calculations and interactions with memory as well as perception and speech recognition; liability rules for spatial thinking, recognize visual information, the perception of music and some simple mathematical operations.

The activity of both hemispheres, the researchers looked for links between processes taking place in different areas of the brain, and found no evidence that people use any of the hemispheres often different.

"Of course, it is true that some of the functions are distributed between the different hemispheres. For example, processes associated with speech occur mainly in the left part of the brain responsible for attention and right side. But at the same time people do not tend to have a greater right or left brain, "- says one of the leaders of the study, Dr. Jeff Anderson. He is supported by other researchers, Jared Nielsen: "We have no data on the relationship between the development of the cerebral hemispheres and personality type. Most of the processes associated with that, and the other part of the brain ».

Scientists believe that the results of their experiment, published in the latest issue of the journal «PLOS ONE», turn the idea of the human brain.
