Snow festivals in Hokkaido

On the eve of the Japanese city of Chitose started the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival in 2009, and today, February 5, in Sapporo, also located on the northern Japanese Hokkaido Lake, opened the 60th Snow Festival Sapporo Snow Festival 2009, which represented a huge snow sculptures, reaching 15 meters high and 25 meters wide.

On the creation of ice and snow art works ten teams from around the world, sculptors came even from those countries where the snow does not fall. By construction of the most complex structures has been involved brigade of the Japanese army. Total for the festival took five-ton truck 6500 snow. Construction compositions interfere warm weather - some figures in the process of building literally eroded warm rain.
