Japanese scientists have turned skin cells into nerve transplants without gene

Japanese scientists from the Medical University of Kyoto Prefecture смогли transform cells in human skin cells by properties similar to the nerve. This unique method was used chemical effect on cells.

Pre-existing methods of obtaining индуцированных stem cell assumed they came from any other cells by epigenetic reprogramming. This process takes place either using transplant nuclei from somatic cells into an egg , or using other technologies also involves transplanting genetic material. < br />
The Japanese have coped with it without transplanting genes, but only action on the cells of some six chemical components. According to researchers, it promotes the simplified preparation of cells which, in addition, less prone to cancer. In the future, this technology will help prepare the graft material suitable for people with a damaged nervous system.

Chemical components affect the signals emitted in the formation of nerve cells. The experiments were performed on the cells of the skin for several subjects, aged 6 months to 55 years. After three weeks of cultivation, 80% of the cellular material transformed into cells, the characteristics of which were similar to the characteristics of the nerve cells.

The result has been successfully reproduced in the lab and in China lab Takara Bio Inc., who collaborated with the University in this study.

This research continues a series of works on attempts to produce human nerve cells from other cells of its tissues. In 2013, scientists from Stanford успешно conducted similar experiments on mice and rats.
