The village stands on a cliff about 50 meters deep. The place itself was chosen by the first settlers at the confluence of Flavia and Toronel. Given that the total area of the village does not even reach one square kilometer, Castellfollit de la Roca is the status of one of the smallest villages in the area of Spain.
