Vasily Shukshin was born July 25, 1929 in the village of Srostki Bijskogo in the Altai Region in the family of the middle peasants. Returning from the army in 1953, Vasily Shukshin married fellow-villager Mary Shumsky. SHukshin externally graduated ten classes, worked as a teacher and director at the local school, then entered the automotive technical school. All this was interesting Shukshin, and he decided to go to Moscow to enroll in the screenwriting department VGIK, the wife went to do in Novosibirsk Pedagogical Institute.
