Cave School in Guizhou Province
Guizhou - this is one of the poorest provinces in China. Water and food are continuously inadequate because of the massive desertification and prolonged drought makes people every day fight for his life. Such a standard of living, of course, was displayed at the level of education of residents in Guizhou Province, so many children simply do not attend school.
Despite the meager sponsorship by the Chinese government, the inhabitants of the southern province of Guizhou found a way out of the situation by opening a secondary school in the middle of the cave. Unusual school was opened in 1984 and employs 8 teachers who taught science 186 students.
Carved elements cave is home to many students who would lose all without education. The cave is equipped with several handmade designs, which include wooden classrooms and makeshift basketball court where students have fun at recess.
Yes, in school in the middle of the cave is hardly comfortable, but there are some advantages: the fresh air, excellent acoustics for choral singing, as well as a visual study of flora and fauna in biology class.
Unfortunately, the Chinese government has decided to close the school in 2011, saying that China is - this is not a society of cavemen. Despite promises by the Chinese authorities, a decent school in the southern region of Guizhou has not opened, and the school in the middle of the cave now appears except as a tourist attraction.
