London Beer Flood
Oh, what an important date we have, it appears, passed 195 years ago, 17 October 1814, took place in London, "London Beer Flood", which killed 9 people.
The tragedy began with the explosion of the volume of beer barrels 610 000 liters brewery "Mo and the company» (Meux and Company) to Tottenham Court Road.
The explosion caused the destruction of a chain of other drums, due to the volume of splashing out on the streets of beer has reached half a million liters. Beer wave carrying death and destruction: two houses were destroyed, lots of basements are flooded, and nine people were killed. Eight of them drowned and one died of alcohol poisoning.
Relatives of some of the victims put their bodies on display in their homes and collected fees from the curious. During one of these demonstrations was such a big crowd that the floor could not resist and onlookers fell into the basement, still filled with beer.
