There are in Brazil is one amazing place that affects themselves Brazilians. It Lensua Maranhenses National Park, located in the north-east of the country, in the state of Maranhao, near the town of Barreyrinias.

It is a low place with a smooth surface in some places flooded, peremezhevannuyu large sand dunes. By area, the national park covers about 1,000 square kilometers and despite adequate rainfall, there is almost no vegetation. The park was opened on 2 nd June 1981. Here it was filmed the Brazilian film "House of Sand", and recently there have been shooting an Indian movie "Entiran."

The territory he is extensive and it does not lead to the motorway. Due to the protected status of the park for most types of car travel here closed. Here you can call exclusively on dvuhprivodnom truck.

At first glance the park, covered with endless, white, free-flowing dunes, the desert seems typical. But in fact it is not. This place is located near the Amazon basin, and in the beginning of each year, there is a real rainy season. And then the rains cause unusual phenomenon: fresh water collected in depressions between sand dunes, and as a result the whole desert studded with turquoise lagoons, which are more affluent in the period from July to September.

What is also surprising is found there are many species of fish, despite the almost complete drying lagoons in the dry season. Birds carry the eggs of these fish out of the sea.
