Amazing swirl of William Pye
According to Greek mythology, Scylla and Charybdis sirens lived in the Strait of Sicily. Homer tells us that when Charybdis stole bulls Hercules, Zeus struck by lightning and turned it into a whirlpool, absorb ships. The amazing "eddy" sculpture by William Pye called Charybdis circular movement of water in a transparent acrylic cylinder forms a vortex of air in the center.

1. Around the cylinder erected stage to be able to look inside and see the maelstrom above. The cylinder is made in Grand Junction, Colorado, USA.
2. At the time of its completion "Charybdis" was the largest sculpture by William Pye, and the second, in which he used a clear acrylic polymer
3. The material is allowed to expand Paju "language" of his sculpture and explore the different ways that you can experience the water element
4. High level of filtration of water in the cylinder is simply necessary to maintain transparency and expression of all the potential strength of the vortex
5. This sculpture was completed in 2000 specifically for the hotel in County Durham in the UK.
