Earth, Venus and the Sun line up in a row



From the Earth can be observed as the solar disk slowly moving black dot - Venus. Residents of Europe and other parts of the Old World will be able to see the completion of a transit, as the bulk of it will take place at night. Venus begins its move across the solar disk on June 6 at 1:08 Moscow time. In Ukraine, the sun will rise with Venus already on the disc, and it is one of the most interesting moments of the phenomenon. The middle passage come at 04:34. It is very favorable for observations, including due weakened layers of the atmosphere solar brightness. For nearly six hours, the dark disk of Venus will move across the solar disk, and leaves at 07:57 ego.

You can see this phenomenon with the naked eye glasses or through a special filter. Even better - watch the parade of planets with a telescope or binoculars, equipped with special filters. You have to be very careful: looking through binoculars at the sun without the filter, even for a moment - you can immediately lose sight. Observing this phenomenon in 1761, Mikhail Lomonosov discovered atmosphere on Venus. He noticed blurred edge of the solar disk at the first contact, this phenomenon is called the "black drop". When the black disc of Venus is partially joined to the disk of the Sun around its edges, is still against the sky suddenly flashed a thin rim of fire. This bezel is now called "Lomonosov phenomenon". It is caused by the refraction of light in the atmosphere planety.

Transit of Venus - is one of the rarest of predictable astronomical phenomena. It occurs when the planet is located exactly between the Sun and the Earth, covering a tiny fraction of the solar disk. This planet looks from Earth as a small black spot, moving the sun. During the passage of Venus appears about 30 times smaller than the sun.
Every year, 243 are repeated four passing, two winter (with a difference of eight years), then a long gap in the 121, 5 years, and two more in the summer (again eight years later).
