NASA is working on the creation of a robot-astronaut

NASA and General Motors (GM) have joined forces to develop the next generation of humanoid robots that will be used in the automotive and aerospace industries. The joint work of engineers and scientists is conducted in the framework of agreements on cooperation in space «Space Act Agreement» in the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center (The Lyndon Johnson Space Center, JSC) in Houston.

The robot is equipped with the most advanced technologies in the field of management, as well as all kinds of sensors and video cameras. Due to this, the robot will be able to help future astronauts during hazardous space missions, as well as the GM build safer cars and plants.
Robonaut 2 (R2) has a more advanced technology and skills, compared with the previous model R1, to replace which he came. The robot is able to work shoulder to shoulder with the man, both in space and on Earth without exposing it to the danger of his actions, the Vedas R2 has tremendous power.
