Mardi Gras in Dusseldorf
In the period from November to February inclusive, German Düsseldorf turns into a continuous carnival.
However, the main celebration, of course, connected with wires of winter and beginning of spring. By analogy with the Carnival, Mardi Gras, and many other national festivals, such as exists in Dusseldorf. Even in the sixteenth century, the local mayor Johann Wilhelm (Johan Wilhelm), being a great lover of beauty, decided to modify the Old Believers celebration to a more modern.
And there was a carnival in Dusseldorf. And with it the carnival train (Karnevalszug), pancakes with fruit puree (Pfannkuchen), Carnival Prince (Prinz Karneval) and much more.
If before the main personages were carnival Evil Spirit and clown witch, but now it's Carnival Prince and Princess. Prince personally handing hands the key to the city Mayor himself, and he puts a symbolic crown - a symbol of power.
