Tibetan monastery-fortress Kee Gompa

This unique Buddhist monastery in the Indian district Lahul and Spiti, located on a picturesque hill, whose height measured th 4166 meters above sea level. At the beginning of the century Kee Gompa celebrated its millennium.

According to one version, the monastery was built after the neighboring village Rangrik was destroyed monastery. Key Gompa is home to three hundred monks, who in the warmer months, treated the surrounding land. The founder of the monastery is considered Dromton, pupil of the famous teacher named Atisha. Currently Kee Gompa monastery is the largest in Spiti valley. The walls are decorated with paintings of the monastery. The monastery has an impressive collection of books, sculptures, weapons, tanks, and other art objects and attributes stories.
