Four times a year in New York City can be observed phenomenon called Manhettenhendzh. When the rays of the rising or setting sun are exactly along the streets of the island, it is very true. In old Europe is watching unlikely to succeed, but in America, many cities are built on a parallel-perpendicular planes. So, I think, this effect can be observed not only in Manhattan.
