Dobronravov graduated from the theater school in 1950. Two years later, the future poet became a graduate of the Moscow Pedagogical Institute.
At first Dobronravov tried himself as an actor, then acted as a playwright. Nikolai Nikolaevich worked in the theater of the young spectator and starred in films. But he proved himself more like a writer, fascinated by poetry. Thanks to his extraordinary talent, he became known as the author of lyrical poems that formed the basis of pop songs.
Nikolai Dobronravov married in 1956. His chosen one was Alexandra Pakhmutova. He met her in a children's radio studio, where the poet read his own poems. It was love at first sight. A month later, the young people had a wedding. The couple lived in the soul for 67 years, but they were not lucky to have children.
The poet’s wife, Alexandra Nikolaevna, composed music on his poems. As a result of their joint work, about 400 musical works were created. Among them were hits: “Tenderness”, “Bird of Happiness”, “Coward does not play hockey”, “The Little Prince”, “I can’t do otherwise” and others. His wonderful songs gained great popularity not only in the USSR, but also abroad. Dobronravov and Pakhmutova were the authors of the song “Goodbye, Moscow”, which sounded at the closing of the Olympic Games in 1980. The works of the famous couple were performed by ensembles “Songs”, “Gems”, “Syabry”, “Verasy” and others. Their songs were sung by Muslim Magomayev, Lev Leshchenko, Lyudmila Zykina, Anna German, Edita Pieha, Valentina Tolkunova, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Sofia Rotaru and others.
