After school, Larisa entered the university and left for Yerevan. In 1978 she won second place at the 11th All-Russian Contest of Soviet Song Performers in Sochi. She was invited to work in Sovremennik, a very popular pop and jazz ensemble at that time. There she met her first husband, director Anatoly Mionchinsky.
