Editorial "Site" Today we'll talk about spelling. Let's look at examples!

Spelling errors
  1. "During" or "during"
It's actually as simple as possible here. If we are talking about a period of time and you can ask the question “How long?” – written with “e” at the end. For example, in a sentence: “We learned this rule for three days.” We are talking about a period of time, which means we write “during”. If we are talking about a river, then write at the end of the "and": "We saw a swimmer in the river." That's all.

  2. “Continuing” or “continuing”
It's a similar situation. If we talk about a period of time, then we write "in continuation": "She rested for a week." If you can ask the question “Where?”, then the “and” appears at the end. Usually we are talking about the continuation of the book or film: “The author revealed the intrigue in the continuation of the novel.”

  3. “In conclusion” or “in detention”
It is very important not to confuse these endings, because not only literacy, but also meaning depends on them. So if we're talking about finishing something, then we write an "e": "At the end of the concert, they sang everybody's favorite song." When we talk about prisons, we write “and.” For example, someone is in prison for theft. We will also write “and” if we talk about a document that can be called a conclusion: “The doctor’s conclusion says that the patient has the flu.” You just have to keep a close eye on the meaning of what you’re trying to say, and then there won’t be any problems. You know the rule now.

  4. “In consequence” or “in consequence”
If we can replace it with “because of” we write “because of” – together with “e” at the end: “Vasily resigned due to illness”. But if we mean the investigation, then we write separately, and at the end of the "and": "In the consequence of the criminal case, a breakthrough has been outlined."
