Scientists urge creation of a global development strategy of renewable energy

An appeal to the world's governments calling to adopt a global strategy of increasing energy production from renewable energy sources, published in the journal Nature, an international team of scientists from nine countries.

The authors believe that greenhouse gas emissions are reduced fast enough in order to meet the obligations of the agreement adopted at the climate summit in Paris last year. They called for concerted and coordinated efforts to identify and solve scientific, political and economic problems standing in the way to widespread adoption of renewable energy.

"Renewable energy is complex, requiring urgent global problem, which has long been ignored as researchers and investors. It requires a serious intellectual effort, the multidisciplinary approach and the support of the authorities in order to compete with existing systems. And it is closely connected with other global challenges such as food and water security, poverty and health care," the authors write.Climate change is occurring faster than expected. By 2050, according to some scientists, the Earth's temperature will rise 2 degrees.

In connection with this threat, the authors propose to base the design approach of the bill and Melinda gates Foundation and other charities since 2003, when it was launched the initiative, The Grand Challenges in Global Health.

According to scientists, should elect the world Council, composed of eminent scientists, politicians, industry leaders and proactive citizens of developed and developing countries. The Council will make a detailed list of problems in the areas of generation and energy storage, smart grids and lines, legal instruments and economic models. And develop solutions to them. published
