Fearless leap into space

The intrepid Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner jumped from the stratosphere right into the record books after his flight, he managed to break three world records.

First, his jump was the fastest. Breaking the speed of sound, which is equal to 1200 K/h, Baumgartner was falling at maximum speed 1342,8 km/h. second, its raising to the stratosphere was the highest to date and amounted to 39,45 km, which exceeded the previous highest jump of almost 5 km. and, of course, his jump is also the highest.

The entire flight lasting 9 minutes and 3 seconds commenced with hoisting the 43-year-old Austrian in the capsule of the stratospheric balloon, then he jumped with a parachute. Duration of free fall before opening the parachute was 4 minutes, 19 seconds. The flight was carried out in a special suit, as the height of the jump exceeded the so-called 19-mile "Armstrong line", above which due to the extremely low pressure of the atmosphere to survive without special devices and hermetic suit a person.

Also the flight was not without incident: during the whole 90 seconds, the skydiver had not reached out, as some time went into a tailspin. However, he managed to stabilize the situation and even land it at a predetermined point.

Of course, this is a historic event not without various photo - and video recording of the flight, and even direct transmission, as in addition to 30 cameras simultaneously filmed the jump, the survey was carried out by the "courageous Felix" with a camera mounted on his helmet.

Baumgartner, though, and became famous for it that his jump is already a great travel experience and extreme experiments, which allows him to release a book about all his adventures. Pre-date the presentation of the book under the title "Conqueror of heaven – my life in free fall", much of which is already written, scheduled for 12 March 2013.
