Autonomous steering system from Nissan
Recently about his contribution to the automation of driving announced by the Japanese automotive Corporation Nissan.
Nissan engineers developed an Autonomous steering system in emergency situations (Autonomous Emergency Steering System). The purpose of the system is to control yourself and prevent a possible collision when the risk of an accident.
On the road there's always a chance. Sometimes, when the car suddenly there is an obstacle, the driver does not have time to react and apply the brakes. In addition, there may be situations where braking too late, and the only way to avoid incidents – immediate and accurate maneuver.
In such situations, to avoid collisions, will help a new system. In its composition the radar and camera to monitor the area in front of the car, two radars on the port side and one on the right that monitor the situation behind, and five laser scanners around the perimeter of the car. This observation complex keeps track of all objects 360 degrees around the machine. The electronic control unit analyzes information from the sensors and detects when a collision is imminent.
If braking is still possible, the electronic control unit will warn the driver and even the brakes, if the person is slow in action.
When, in the opinion of electronics, braking will not help, the driver is alerted by a series of audible signals and visual cues about the safest maneuver, taking into account existing around the vehicle situation. In the absence of immediate reaction from the driver, the system takes control of the wheel itself.
Autonomous steering system in emergency situations is still in the development stage. The system is one of the components of the conceptual program of Nissan's "safety Shield" (Safety Shield).
In the concept of the Nissan safety stands six driving modes, from "normal" to "disaster conditions" of the movement. The company works to provide effective response to hazards specific to each set of conditions.
In the framework of the program "security Shield" created another block erroneous actions of the driver on the basis of the evaluation of the vehicle's surroundings received from camera.
Such a video system may be useful for precise maneuvers, such as when the driver by accident instead of the brake presses on the gas pedal while Parking. It is expected that its efficiency will be able to assess buyers of the Nissan Elgrand at the beginning of next year.
