The most dangerous cave swallows in Mexico
If someone is fond of extreme sports, then surely he has long known about the amazing Mexican cave. Not one speleologist there spent long hours in research, not one lover of base jumping did not lose his chance to bend into the deep jungles of the cave. And where else will be the opportunity to see at one time more than a thousand swallows. Every day flocks of birds fly out of the swallow cave, including with colorful parrots, and in the evening they return to their cozy house. This is worth watching when birds in zero gravity freely fall directly into the abyss, and then fall to their nests.
Located in the tropical forests of Central Mexico in the state of San Louis Potosi. It has a vertical position and is the deepest cave in Mexico, occupies the 11th place in the world ranking among caves. The width at the entrance is 49 by 62 meters, and after a few meters it gradually expands to 303 by 135 meters, and the depth is from 333 to 376 meters, its shape is conical.
In the Cave of Swallows, the temperature is low, and vegetation can be found only in the upper part, and when it rains, streams flow and waterfalls spill on the bottom of the cave. The bottom of the cave is covered with a layer of fragments of stones and bird guano, among which scorpions and snakes live. But that’s not all, here you can find a gutter well, and the depth is impressive – 512 meters. The bottom of the cave consists of various splits, and tourists can climb into shallow tunnels leading to the low levels of the cave.
The cave became popular after the filming of the film “Sanctum”, which was shot by American director James Cameron in 2010. Exploration of the cave was first recorded on December 27, 1966, by explorers Evans, Borland, and Sternsan.
For climbers, this is just paradise, but to conquer it, you need good physical preparation, because its walls are slippery and rich ledges. For 20-30 minutes, an experienced climber can go down to the bottom, and the road up will take even 2-5 hours, but a fall with a parachute is faster - 12 seconds. And that should be done during the day. When birds search for food, collisions with their flock can end tragically.
