Luxury floating islands powered by solar energy

Italian designer Michel Puzzolante of MPD Designs came up with his own solution to the problems associated with global warming and sea level rise. His project is called Solar Floating Island.

This is an artificial resort island that can independently move into the sea. The basis of the island are photovoltaic surface elements, fiberglass and cork wood. The islet is designed in such a way as to absorb and use natural sunlight with maximum efficiency, including for illuminating interior rooms. This means that the energy island is absolutely self-sufficient and harmless to the environment.

In addition to its environmental friendliness, the “sun island” is a luxurious resort equipped with an open-air jacuzzi, a kitchen and a bar, a comfortable bedroom and a spiral staircase leading to the underwater part, where you can comfortably observe the life of marine life.

This new architectural masterpiece is created with the industrial production capabilities in mind – it consists of modules, is easily disassembled into components and can be transported anywhere. Pazzolante is currently in talks with the Maldives government to support the project, and hopes that anyone can buy the island soon.
