Fire fighter helmet of the XXI century from Omer to Haciomeroglu
Swedish designer Omer Haciomeroglu have developed modern improved version of the firefighter's helmet, adding a projection display which is capable of supplying extended information to the user. The prototype device is called "C-Thru Smoke Diving Helmet".
The helmet actually solves a range of problems that often arise during operations to extinguish the fire: low or no visibility in highly dense smoke, the need to follow the walls for orientation in space, as well as the need to carry and constantly check thermal vision equipment and all this is combined in a single device.
New helmet leverages augmented reality: in conditions of reduced visibility, the visor of the helmet projects an image on top of the picture, which sees the fireman, and also shows team communication and thermal imaging interfaces. Thus it allows you to free your hands from fire additional equipment. In addition, the system of a selective noise cancellation drowns out the sound of breathing of the vehicle and increases "the potential sounds of collapsing ceilings and the voices of the victims."
The new design is still in the concept stage, but it clearly demonstrates the benefits that modern technology can offer critical life saving services.
