Cherries can help protect you from stroke

As found by researchers from the University of Michigan health, sour cherry has the same therapeutic cardiovascular effect as many drugs. In addition, it reduces the risk of stroke.

As stated earlier, the consumption of cherries activates PPAR isoforms in many tissues of the body. According to scientists, the activation of PPAR responsible anthocyanins – pigments which gives the berry red color. As you know, PPAR reduce the likelihood of various cardiovascular diseases. Agonists PPAR, such as the drug Actos (pioglitazone), acts in a similar way, however, such drugs have limited use due to side effects.

The researchers compared the effect of the drug Actos and sour cherries in rats prone to stroke. The best effect was seen in rodents fed only sour cherries, which was even higher than in rats who ate and berries and Actos.
