Biofuels based on microalgae

From microalgae can get much more biomass than the same volume of other organic substances, is traditionally used for the production of biofuels.

From one acre (4046 sq. m.) algae can produce about 9463 liters of biofuel per year. For comparison, of an acre of soybeans would be about 182 liters of corn is 68 liters, says Jason Quinn, a Professor at the University of Utah. Microalgae can grow in places that are totally unsuitable for agriculture. And land suitable for agriculture in Brazil, Canada, China and the United States can produce biofuels on the basis of microalgae in sufficient quantity to satisfy more than 30% of the needs of these countries in the fuel.
