An albino skunk was born in a German zoo
A pair of young striped skunks from the German Zoo Heidelberg (Zoo Heidelberg) gave birth to five cubs, and one of them was an albino, notes the website of the zoo. Babies born on April 28 are healthy and begin to explore the world around them.

The pair formed in November last year as part of the European Programme for the Conservation of Rare and Endangered Species. The mother of crumbs Chanel perfectly takes care of her numerous offspring and manages to pay attention to each of the babies.
According to experts, recently albino animals are born in zoos of a particular country, which are treated with special attention, since such animals are very successful with visitors. “Of course, albinos are born in the wild, but there is an extremely small probability that they will live long,” says the zoo vet.
As a rule, they die in the first days of their lives, as they are very noticeable against the background of the environment. In addition, albinos are born with birth defects, for example, with poor vision and weakened immunity, which means they are susceptible to various diseases. These animals will not live long anyway.
Striped skunks (Latin Mephitis mephitis) are small predatory mammals from the skunk family (Latin Mephitidae), which includes only two species - the Mexican skunk (Latin Mephitis macroura) and the striped skunk. It lives in North America from southern Canada to northern Mexico. It is found in all states except Alaska and Hawaii.
These animals inhabit both forests and more open spaces and even deserts. They like to live near human housing. This neighborhood is not very popular with people, as skunks have a rather bad reputation, especially considering the fact that they tend to be kept in whole groups (families) and can make their way into residential buildings.

The fact is that under the tail of the skunk (at the base of the anus) are special odorous glands that produce an oily liquid with a terrible, persistent smell resembling the smell of rotten eggs. If the skunk senses danger, he immediately throws it in the direction of his enemy. And the bright color of the animal serves as a warning signal for potential enemies.
