Green School Class in the UK
Green class in the UK
We can only envy the modern students. The UK has built an unusual communication-independent classroom that is sure to inspire a new generation of environmentalists.
Blue Forest designers, who are known for their tree houses, have created a unique wood classroom equipped with an innovative green Sedum roof that turns rain into drinking water. The solar system is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK.

Located in the forests of Kent County, the classroom that was built for the Benenden School is an ecologically self-sufficient building. The designers claim that this is the first building in the UK in which ordinary rainwater is converted to hot and cold drinking water using the innovative Sedum roof and solar energy. Eco-class is completely independent of tap water and other communications.

The sewerage issue was solved very simply - the building is equipped with bio-toilets. Tests of previous green roofs for rainwater collection have shown that harmful chemicals can form in the process of collecting rainwater and then treating it with chlorine. The system, which was invented by Blue Forest, uses solar panels, six-fold filtration and ultraviolet irradiation to get rid of any extra particles left after the primary water filtration with a green roof.

The use of wood certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), as well as the successful selection of a site for construction - surrounded by ponds, grass lawns and trees - led to the fact that the school classroom organically fits into the surrounding landscape. Inside the wooden structure is a quiet and secluded room of about 70 square meters, which is ideal for contemplating the landscape and is very effective for concentrating the attention of students who conduct field seminars in geography, biology and chemistry.
