COB byggeri – a tiny house made of clay

This small clay house was built by Bjarne Wickstrøm in Denmark. Björn is a natural builder who specializes in cane roofs, clay plaster, construction of thatched blocks and clay, and stove masonry.
All these skills were useful to him in the construction of this house for his son Mikkel.

“Clay walls have many advantages, allowing free and flexible forms to be created. These walls can breathe, produce heat and blend perfectly with other natural materials, says Björn.

When building such a house, it is important to work in dry weather, especially when roofing and building thatched walls.
You can polish the facade with ordinary lime mortar.
Part of the walls you can make of samana, and the north-west side to lay straw bales to make the house warmer.

To build such a house of clay, you can attract friends and family, even children love to work with clay.
