Bill gates: People don't think about the fact that soon their work will give software robots
According to the statement of bill gates, the labor market can expect a big change, are not ready neither the people nor the government.
During his recent performance in economic reactor The American Enterprise Institute, gates said that within the next 20 years many kinds of work leave in the past – they will be replaced by software automation (technical slang "bots", but gates used the term "software substitutes").
Here are his exact words:
"Software substitutes for the most different activities, whether drivers, waiters or nurses. ... These technologies are progressing. ... Over time, technology will reduce the demand in work, especially at the lower end of the professional spectrum. ... After 20 years, the demand for labour in many areas will be significantly lower than today. And I don't think that people keep this nuance in their mental model".
And gates is not the only one who predicts the scenario is not rosy for the workers. In January, the Economist published a major material, which called more than a dozen professions that are virtually guaranteed to be given to robots in the next 20 years, including telemarketers, accountants and retail sales.
Gates believes that the tax law should be modified – it must encourage companies to hire employees, and – perhaps — to cancel taxes on income and wages. Bill gates is a supporter of the idea of raising the minimum wage, fearing it will stop employers from hiring workers in those areas which are most threatened by automation.
