Unique Seed Catalog of E. Grachev in 1896
The best source of knowledge about old varieties is the old seed catalogs. And the older the better.
We present you the catalog of seeds of E. Grachev in 1896. He owned a seed shop in St. Petersburg and Moscow in the late 19th century.
The son of Yefim Andreevich Grachev gifted breeder is a nugget. For the development of vegetable growing, he was awarded ten gold and forty silver medals, was elected a member of the Paris Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He produced an illustrated catalog of his collection. There is no evidence that there were catalogues.
Interestingly, in the catalog there are varieties, new to the time, potatoes. And what! The tubers are pink, red, black.
