Former Minister of Finance of Greece in favor of the introduction of an unconditional income in Switzerland

Former Minister of Finance of Greece Janis Varufakis in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger actively supported the introduction of an unconditional income for citizens.

In the first place, he explained his commitment to this idea by the fact that technological progress leads to the disappearance of jobs and to the degeneration of the middle class. At the same time worked in a factory robots do not make purchases in stores. As a result, more and more funds accumulated in the higher classes of society, which leads to the stagnation of the economy.

Varufakis emphasizes that the absolute income does not mean indiscriminate refusal to work. According to surveys of the Swiss, no more than 2% of people stop working in the event of the introduction of an unconditional income. He recalled that in Switzerland and already a lot of unemployed people: it is rich. He cited the example of the children of wealthy parents who do not work to make money, but for self-fulfillment. They organize funds, work on their own projects, or spend money on training.

He believes that, despite the high standard of living (Switzerland - one of the richest countries in the world), the quality of life of citizens falls. The more highly paid work, the more a person is afraid of losing her. Therefore, in his view, the introduction of an unconditional income - an investment in the future of the country

. Varufakis calls DB equal opportunities for all - it is a kind of hybrid of capitalism and socialism. Database will allow each person to give up something that does not suit him - he will not be afraid of the financial consequences of his refusal. As a result, the database can be called one of the major building blocks for the construction of the social economy of the future.

One of the problems in the case of DB input is called the fear that people in other countries will have an irresistible desire to emigrate to Switzerland. Varufakis agreed that it can really be a problem, and expressed his confidence that this program will have some restrictions on the payment database.

Swiss Federal Government plans to submit to a referendum the issue of unconditional income for its citizens. The referendum will be held in June, and the issue concerns all citizens without exception. For every adult is invited to pay $ 2,500, while the cub - $ 625.
