Sapphires from Madagascar

Once a tiny village Ilakaka (south-west of Madagascar), there were only 40 people. But in 1998, the year here was found unprecedented sapphire deposits.
Now there are tens of thousands of people, and the village became a source of 50% of all sapphires in the world.
According to statistics, 21 000 children living here - 19,000 belong to working families.
