Members of the "Club 300" extremely fun in Antarctica

It's much worse than you can imagine predstavit

During the long winter in Antarctica a few dozen employees Amundsen-Scott base at the South Pole are completely isolated from the outside world since the middle of February until the end of October - all the while at the Pole polar night reigns.

Moreover, the conditions there are extremely heavy, above all - psychologically, but also entertainment in such an isolated community could come up with very little. Then the explorers came up and began to transfer from shift to shift the bold tradition - testing on their bodies instantaneous temperature drop of 300 ° F (or 166 ° C), ran out of the room warm outside naked.

Participants had to wait for the day when the outdoor temperature rose to -100 ° F (-75 ° C) without taking into account the wind. If there was a wind, the temperature of the person feels as -144 ° F (-97, 7 ° C). Then all went to the sauna, heated to 200 ° F (93 ° C) for ten minutes, but after sitting in the heat becomes impossible, all ran out.

The most daring ran to the geographic South Pole and back, zipping through all 24 time zones. But even those who managed to reach the top of the nearest hill, received a commemorative stamp, and then rewarded by repeated gatherings in the sauna and a small amount of alcohol.

Of course, they ran out into the street is not quite bare: allowed to wear boots and a scarf to cover her neck, mouth and nose, so as not to freeze myself lungs. Underwear is not allowed - this rule was both fun and practical: clothes absorb sweat, which is sure to appear in the sauna and instantly freeze outside in sub-zero temperatures, and feel like literally ledeneyut genitals, not too pleasant.

One of the participants described their feelings as "like someone had hit him a tennis racket studded with needles." So why prodelyvat something so painful and dangerous? Then, to finally say that you belong to one of the most exclusive clubs in the world. Or maybe a way to cheer yourself up, when you're at six months among the cold and darkness.
