This act is a legal basis for the presumption of illegal detention, this principle applies to the XVII century in American law.

Judge Barbara Jaffe, recently handed down a decision on the distribution of "habeas corpus" on chimpanzees Hercules and Leo, changed the decision and struck out the wording. The next hearing is scheduled for May 6, they will include representatives of society Nonhuman Rights Project and the University at Stony Brook.

The University does not comment on litigation and awaits the final review of the case by the court.
