Internet for one and all: Elon Musk plans to launch into orbit communication satellites 700

The founder of Tesla and SpaceX thinks globally, and its projects now - too global. Wall Street Journal reporter learned that the mask and Greg Weiler (former head of the project to expand the network of satellites Google) are in talks with the authorities in Florida and Colorado on the possibility of the construction of a factory for the production of satellites in the region.

The project is at a very early stage of development, and yet that his concept is not completely clear. Nevertheless, some details of the project to journalists found out. And Greg Weiler is the founder and current leader of WorldVu Satellites, which is developing small communications satellites. So, in general terms, the goal of the project is clear.

Current plans are partners in the launch into orbit of 700 small communications satellites, weighing about 113 kilograms (ordinary mass communications satellite - several tons). The approximate cost of each such satellite is US $ 1 million, and the company will launch satellites SpaceX (and there is no plot, everything is under control in mask, as they say).

When you create a factory for the production of satellites Musk will use some ideas from their current projects and companies (including Tesla and SpaceX).

Greg Weiler, in his words, to be offered by Google about the same plan, but stopped working with the search giant after several months of collaboration, as "not sure about the quality of technical and technological (industrial) expertise in Google».

The purpose of the project - providing access to the users who are currently in the most difficult to create a network infrastructure places.

As you know, Google and Facebook are now also working on similar projects, planning to use drones, satellites and balloons. If at least one project will be implemented - all the inhabitants of the planet will be able to access the web, where anyone nor was.
