In June 2011, in the Alexander Park, which is located near the Peter and Paul Fortress, was opened tourist center mini-city. Collected here are small copies of historical monuments, which are the main sights of St. Petersburg.





The idea of ​​creating such an unusual place belongs to the famous Russian sculptor Alexander Taratynova, who once made a similar exhibition in Amsterdam, four hundred years dedicated to the anniversary of the birth of Rembrandt. Then the characters sculptures were taken from the famous painting of the artist "Night Watch».



In St. Petersburg, it was decided to make an exhibition of the most outstanding architectural ensembles of the northern capital. The idea was supported by the city authorities, a place for this unique project was selected Alexander Park. At first, the location of the mini-city has been criticized by some of the architects of St. Petersburg, but Alexander Taratynov insisted that the mini-city, situated in the heart of St. Petersburg, will attract many guests of the Northern capital.



The sculptures were made in the Museum of Architecture, which is based in Moscow, and in the autumn of 2010 they moved to the Northern capital. It should be noted that the sculptures were carried out in an atmosphere of secrecy, because they have been a pleasant surprise for St. Petersburg.
The discovery of the architectural and educational tourist center mini-city on 15 June 2011. Residents and guests of the Northern capital saw a beautiful architectural ensemble of the copies of the Senate and the Palace Square, the Kazan and St. Isaac's Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress and Church of the Savior on Blood, Mikhailovsky Castle and the Admiralty.
