One of the most surprising and little-known natural attractions of Gatchina are geysers.
Six kilometers from the town of Gatchina paritsa on the river is a large number of springs and geysers.





What first comes to mind at the mention of the majestic St. Petersburg and the surrounding area? Most of us immediately imagine luxurious natural ancestral homes, beautiful parks and groves, old Russian estates and castles, there are, indeed, very much. In addition to these attractions, the St. Petersburg area may surprise you also little known, but quite interesting places, one of which are Gatchinskye geysers.



Not far from the village Korpikovo Gatchina district stretches the picturesque woodland, which beat and out of the ground a few jets of water - it is their locals call Gatchinskaya geysers. The height of these improvised fountains does not exceed one and a half meters, but on the background of forest landscape they look very nice.



Actually, to call these natural fountains geysers is not entirely correct - rather, it is not the usual springs. These geysers beat the hot thermal water has healing properties, and there are places of volcanic activity, which in these marshy lands, of course, is not observed.



There is a version that does not have any Gatchinskye fountains without human intervention - ostensibly in the Soviet time, scientists, surveyors set of wells drilled here, studying the area for the water supply capacity of the then Leningrad and its environs. For unknown reasons, the project was shelved, and the well plugged, but over time, in some places the water is still found a way to the top - and there were "geysers».



You can come here at any time, because in different months of the year geysers look stunning in their own way. Especially beautiful here in winter, when the frozen water jets are formed around the fountains bizarre ice shapes, but it's best to get to the geysers, after all, in the summer.
